Thank you Izumisano for your reply which I saw for the first time today (despite it being dated the same day as my comment). I understand about the long hours and I am nonetheless happy to hear that you are well and that we are not permanent casualties. Of course I am also quite pleased to hear that you have help and are still on the case. So don't apologise; just take care of yourself. We'll all be here waiting when you can get to it. Btw, "long" is relative; I've working on translating my sensei's book for longer than I'll admit here but figuring out which English words to use when all you have is the kanji is a daily humbling, learning experience. Well, good luck on your new job and meeting all your goals!

Hi Iaidoka, thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement!

I haven't stopped, but I have to work long hours in my new job now so there is much less time left for this. A friend of mine, a very experienced translator herself, has helped to draft out the Episodes 43 to 48 already. Now all I have to do is to finish Episode 42 myself and the rest should be much easier. I'm very sorry it's taken so long.

I've tried to find other sources of the remaining episodes in English, but have failed too. All I know is that NHK has official English subbed versions, and they have not been released on DVD. It would have been much easier if there was another source that we could refer to.

My target is to finish this project by the end of this year. Wish me luck!

Hi Izumisano! Your translations are ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT!!! I love them and totally appreciate them. I have tried to do a little amateur Japanese translating and have a very good idea just how much time and work you must have put into such EXCELLENT efforts! Unfortunately, as you may or may not know some of the US stations that previously carried the annual "NHK Taiga Dorama" presentations stopped carrying them after "TENCHIJIN". The local San Francisco bay area channel is one of those. Since I had been following them for many years (I have copies of all since 1986!), I was devastated to have to watch only older Japanese movies in the old Taiga time slot. When I finally found DVD's of "RYOMADEN" "with ENG Subs" at Amazon, I quickly and happily paid the exorbitant price for them having previously only been able to find Chinese translations or “English” translations from Chinese which were at best confusing (Reading the reviews there now explains that only the first 17 episodes are "sensible" English and that all the rest are very poor "non-sense" translations apparently from a non-English speaking most likely Chinese.). So having no confidence in Amazon to correct the problem and noting that the first 17 actually illegally use YOUR translations, I reluctantly turned to the internet (I am older and somewhat computer-illiterate) to try to find the remaining subs. You can imagine my sheer ecstasy at discovering that you had continued your superb translations through episode 41! …. However, I just finished watching Ep. 41 and have scoured the net to the best of my ability and of course can’t locate ANY English translations for 42 through 48. I don’t know why it seems that you stopped translating after 41 and I understand that my humble enquiry will not tumble you to suddenly put forth the massive effort to produce the remaining episodes. In truth, I’m not sure what effect on you I expect my comments to have. But I can’t not add my comment of thanks on your monumental accomplishment of making this available to English speaking fans everywhere who have hung on your words… YOUR WORDS… for 41 thrilling episodes! Do you possibly have any suggestions as to how/where I might find the remaining episodes in English translation? Thank you so much!!!
