Phantom lyrics
(Music / Lyrics: Fukuyama Masaharu)
He has become a vanquisher, striving to seize everything, endlessly
Searching for the power to consume all good and evil, he moves on
A deeply deformed past, and countless betrayals have transformed him
He has become an Asura *, he will never come back to this place, he has sworn to that
Family ties, these blood bonds drag him down, he has discarded them
To deceit and sin, he no longer feels pain
To friendship and sacrifice, he no longer looks back
To the wilderness he goes, to the ends of his desires
Challenging the ghost of his great father
was once an endless battle
His mother’s love, like wings protecting him in embrace
was the last testament to his humanity
The last…….
A thirsty heart, yet there is no-one anymore
Ice cold lips, yet they seek no-one, accept no-one anymore
He has obtained power, yet his journey continues, endlessly
For he has nothing to lose anymore
Without a shred of love, he goes on his way.

In his radio programme, Masha mentioned that “Phantom” could take the meaning of “Ghost” or “Illusion”. The guitar part for almost the entire song was played by Masha himself. The instrumental at the end of the song was used as the BGM for the Kewpie Half commercial last year. It was a long piece of instrumental and Masha said he loved it. (~Midori)

Wow… It’s nice!
It seems to me that this song is about some certain person - a historical or fictional character perhaps. There is a fleeting association in my mind which I cannot yet place, something familiar about the story this song tells… Is it just my imagination?
Same here Darth’Mael! And it’s driving me mad because I just can’t pinpoint who it is.
I don’t think Fukuyama has mentioned if it was based on any specific character, though.
awesome
