2009 Budokan Daikanshasai Report: Part 3
After such a beautiful song, Masha couldn’t helping sighing because of the audition clip just now. We laughed and clapped in encouragement, as if we wanted to tell Masha, “It’s alright, even after we’ve seen you like this, we still love you all the same!”
“…..I think it’s incredible that Amuse had kept the tape of the audition process at that time….” Hahahaha!!
“…… You can see I didn’t have much money in those days, I was always wearing the same clothes in those old clips…..Thank you so much for your continued support for the Fukuyama at that time, the Fukuyama who was always wearing the same clothes……” The applause was long and hard.
“……It’s true, you were always there for me.”
“…..The concert will formally start now. This is no time to sit in your seats…….”
We all got up and shouted:
“It’s time to start, everyone!”
“Time to show my gratitude, Budokan!”
“Time to pump up the heat, Budokan, alright?!”
“Time to sing non-stop, Budokan, alright?!”
“Come on~~, Captain!” *
Inoue-san played a solo on the piano, which led into the guitar prelude for [vs ~Chikaku to Kairaku no Rasen~] (vs. ~知覚と快楽の螺旋~) and started everyone clapping to the rhythm. As he was playing his guitar, Masha walked along the 4 lanes to be closer to the audience and each instrument had its own solo within the song.
The ending drums brought us straight into [Heaven]. We raised our arms and waved them side-to-side in rhythm, and at times jumping up together with Masha. As he sang, he ran to the ends of each lane, setting off a flurry of screams and frantic waving to catch his attention each time. Of course, Masha went through his normal seductive moves for this song and, with the use of huge air rifles, he shot out concert merchandise to the audience - mainly T-shirts and pants.
The song ended with a “Thank you!”. Loud applause and screaming started -
“Still not over yet, Level 2!”
“Still not over yet, Level 1!”
“We’ve still got lots more! Standing places!”
“Arena! We’re gonna get going!”
The mood was hot! The audience was stirred up and temperatures shot through the roof.
“Let me put my ass on……..”
We all laughed.
“In our Daikanshasai today, you won’t just be seeing this fake ass……”
“Eh?” Exclamations could be heard from all over.
“…..I knew this will shock you!!”
Were we thinking of the wrong thing? What other “thing” has he put on this time?
“Do you want to be shocked again?”
“Do you want to enjoy yourselves a bit more?”
“Let’s become as one, Budokan!”
The [Peach!!] music came up. As we were clapping in beat with the rhythm, Masha was beating in rhythm on his fake ass. In the middle,
“Alright, Level 2; Level 1; Standing places and Arena, let’s become one, Budokan! Come On~~~”
Bang! Gold ribbons shot out from the stage. (Or were they silver? I couldn’t catch any^^) At the same time, the centre stage started revolving. So in order to allow fans from all directions to have a clear view of himself, he specially had this 360° revolving stage made. For a price of 3939, this was really amazing value.
The applause was loud and in sync with the music.
“Let’s come closer together, Budokan! More, move around more, Budokan!”
“Alright, get ready Level 2!”
“Level 1, get ready!”
“Standing places, get ready!”
“Arena, get ready!”
“Come on Budokan! Come on!”
The clapping never stopped. We wanted more passion, more unity so the entire audience could merge into one.
心は燃えてる、僕たち燃えてる Set your heart on fire; set ourselves on fire
(Tu Tu Tu) 負けるもんか (Tu Tu Tu) We won’t be defeated!
(Tu Tu Tu) 立ち上がれ (Tu Tu Tu) Stand up tall!
(Tu Tu Tu) 逃げるもんか (Tu Tu Tu) We won’t run away!
At the chorus, we raised our hands again, pointing forward 3 times in rhythm with the “Tu Tu Tu”. This song is a must in every concert, and the coloured ribbons are always shot out at the same spot everytime. They only started having the fake ass in the Daikanshasai last year, now it’s a regular item in his concerts! Needless to say, Masha did not forget to stroke it during his song, he enjoyed it and so did we^^
“Domo Arigatou!” (Thank you!)
We clapped on, accompanied by the drumbeat. Masha took his coat off. Then we saw the staff taking cups of water out……what a surprise! Didn’t Masha say in his radio programme that they were not allowed to throw water from the stage?
“……We’re gonna keep on singing, Budokan!”
“Our next song is my debut song [Tsuioku no Ame no Naka] (追憶の雨の中)”
As he was singing, Masha went along each lane throwing cups of water to the audience. Some of them actually reached Level 2, bringing about cheers and applause. At the chorus, we held our fists up and struck them in time with the beat. Masha was doing the same, leading us from the stage. The whole auditorium was on fire, we felt like we were on fire too!
Then, we heard an unfamiliar melody, a prelude to a song, but I couldn’t tell which one it was. This was one of the great things of his live concerts, Masha and his band will re-arrange the music to link the songs together, giving us more amazement and excitement…..Finally I recognized the guitar part, it was his new song [Keshin] (化身). Masha on his guitar** looked so kakkoii (so cool)! We all made sure we had our towels on hand, and did the Keshin movements that we practiced, propelling our towels like helicopters at the chorus. This is going to become another one of his concerts’ classic moments.
“Thank you, Budokan! Thank you! Thank you!”
The audience burst into loud applause.
And in the midst of our elation, the trumpets sounded out the prelude for [Sou ~new love new world~]. Our emotions were brought upto a new high, everyone clapped together. At the chorus, the big black balloon at the ceiling above the stage burst open, giving out thousands of small white balloons which floated gently down to us. At the last “Sou~~”, Masha and we all raised our hands high and pointing forward.
“Come Onn!! Sou~~ Sou~~~”
And when the drummer was about to end the song, in a fast round of guitar, Masha sang the first phrase once more before he ended this very exciting song.
Without giving us a chance to breathe freely, the drums started again. Masha has always praised his fans for doing the right thing, and this time, they automatically clapped in rhythm as well. “Bom~Bom~Bom~Bom~” In the drumming, Masha interacted with us. Cries of “Yeah~~” and applause sounded from all over the hall. Then a familiar guitar phrase, a welcome rhythm, a climax for this part of the concert - [RED x BLUE]. Masha started to sing, we kept on clapping the beat and at the end of each line, we would strike our fists up in the air twice. I really love to listen to the live version of this song, I get so caught up in it that I even forget to look at Masha sometimes!
The ensuing applause was deafening.
“Thank you so much, Budokan!”
We have to thank you too, Masha.
“You’re all very passionate today, Budokan!”
“One more to go, Level 2!”
“One more to go, Level 1!”
“One more to go, Standing places!”
“One more to go, Arena!”
“Let’s all sing together! [Ashita no Show] (明日のＳＨＯＷ)”
The song started amidst the cheers and applause. The auditorium lighted up and the centre stage began to revolve again. The lyrics came up on the big screens on all 4 sides. We all started to sing with Masha.
“Come On! Mou kaerou! (もう帰ろう)….”
At the chorus, we raised our hands again and waved them from side to side. I like this part very much, looking around at the audience moving as one and the emotion in the hall, I feel so moved that I want to cry. Looking back at us, Masha gave us a bright and warm smile.
We were already clapping before the music had fully ended. And the screams and cries, they didn’t stop.
The centre stage stopped revolving after [Ashita no Show] finished. My seat was facing the back of the stage this time. For the first half of the Daikanshasai, although we did get to see his front and profile, I was looking at Masha’s back most of the time. That’s why I was so glad when the stage started revolving during [Peach!!]. I can see more of Masha’s face then.
But a bigger surprise was in stall for me when [Peach!!] ended and the revolving stage stopped, the front stage was now facing us. So for the fast-song part of the concert, Masha was looking straight at our direction. We were so lucky! And we could see how much thought Masha had put in for us, his fans and how he wished to satisfy every member of his audience.
To be Continued.
