[Domoto Q & A]

KD:  And next we come to Domoto Q&A
Q:  Fukuyama Masaharu-san please answer the following:

Q:  What was your nickname as a child?
FM:  Masha

Q:  When you were young, what did you want to be after you grew up?
FM:  A police detective

Q:  In one sentence, tell us what type of child you were.
FM:  Playing everywhere, didn’t want to learn

Q:  In your school days, what were you most interested in?
FM:  Band, Bike (motorcycles), Baito (part-time work)
TM:  Ba Ba Ba
FM: (laugh) Yes, ba ba ba

Q:  What was the biggest surprise for you after you got into the entertainment business?
FM:  That we could eat sushi on the company’s tab.
KD:  We’d need prior approval for that!
FM:  Yes, they need to call a meeting to pass it.

Q:  Can you share with us any exclusive scoops of major crisis or failures that you have experienced at work?
FM:  In the first concert I held at the Shibuya Koukaido (渋谷公会堂), my fly came open.
KD:  You girls must think it’s so kakkoii!!
BT:  They must be thinking, open a bit more~~
KD:  Better still, the belt gets loose~~

Q:  What are you most proud of at home?
FM:  Most proud of?…….It’s very clean and tidy.

Q:  Which one of your own behavior do you find most unbearable?
FM:  Cleaning the floor with a roller without fail everyday like a neurotic.
KD:  What do you ladies think about this?
FK:  That’s very good! (Audience laugh)

Q:  Can you point out one of your weaknesses?
FM:  The fact that I have the roller in my hand all the time.
KD:  That’s the side that you don’t want to show anybody.
BT:  And while you’re rolling the floor, you’ll clean up your pants too….
FM:  No….. (KD & BT: That’s right)……I’ve got rollers of different sizes for that.
BT:  Different sizes?
FM:  Yeah, the short one for the body (proceeds to demonstrate)
KD:  He’s the type who likes to roll about….

Q:  What’s your latest interest?
FM:  Drinking tea from an iron tea-pot
BT:  Ah, a very good practice

[Picture] The iron teapot that Fukuyama-san loves to use.

KD:  When you give it a hit, it’ll give out a big ‘dang’~~
FM:  It’s not as big as it looks. It’s just used to boil water for tea.(laughing at the picture)
KD:  Dang~~……So you use that to make your own tea?
FM:  Yes. At the hospital, the doctor said I was probably a bit anemic, so I could use this way to take in a bit more iron.

[The use of iron teapots: when the water is being boiled, the iron will dissolve in the water, thereby helping to prevent anemia.]

KD:  You use this to absorb more iron?
FM:  It does help. I recommend this to all the ladies.

Q:  If you had the chance to show people a collection that you are most proud of, what would it be?
FM:  That would be my guitars.

[Picture]  His guitars in storage

FM:  That’s not at home. I had to rent a warehouse for them.
KD:  How many have you got?
FM:  That..I’m not sure myself. There are more than 10 that I use normally, and the ones I don’t, should be about ….3 or 4 times of that amount.
BT:  That’s a few dozen.
FM:  Thereabouts
BT:  Tsuyoshi-kun seems to have added a few to his collection recently.
TD:  I have around 20 (guitars)
KD:  That’s quite a number.
BT:  Takamizawa-san’ s collection is really something!
FM:  Besides the quantity, the look (of his guitars) is even more stunning! The appearance is staggering!
TT:  I have quite a lot of antique guitars as well.  (FM: Really?)  Fom 1959.
FM:  Why don’t you use them?
TT:  I’ve used them for recording.
F:  Oh I see. There’s one with white wings.
BT:  You (we) remember it well!

[Video Clip] Takamizawa Toshihiko and his white-winged guitar.

TT:  Oh that one…it’s really exhausting to play.
FM:  (laugh) Really!
TT:  But I like the way I look when I’m playing such a strenuous guitar (laugh).
KD:  There’s quite a feeling of nostalgia.
BT:  (to Takamizawa) Why don’t you give him (Mahsa) one?
TT: I can, yes.
KD:  How many do you actually have now?
TT:  Around 300….maybe more than 350 now.
BT:  (to Masha) Do you want to play the one with the white feathers? (laugh)
TT:  You’d prefer simpler (-looking) ones, right?
FM:  If you have extra left of the white-feathered ones.
TT:  You want to play the white feathered one?!!
BT:  Give him one!
FM:  I want to try it once to see how it’s like
TT:  Oh I see, I get it.
KD:  Have you ever considered making your own guitar?
FM:  Never considered! (laugh)
KD:  Of course why make it if someone can give you! (laugh)
BT:  That settles it then!
TT:  OK, OK.

Q:  Our next question - When did you have your first love? What was she like?
FM:  At kindergarten. She had really white skin and chestnut hair.
BT:  It couldn’t have been a horse, could it?
FM:  (laugh) She looked just like a doll.

Q:  When you look at a girl, where would you start first?
FM:  (pause) Er….
KD:  (to the audience) What are you people thinking about? The audience over there!
BT:  You can all use your imagination, but let’s listen to what he’s got to say.
FM:  From the top down. First the face, then all the way down and back up to the face….sorry, was that a bit too plain?

Q:  What specific actions made by women would you be most attracted to?
FM:  Not any action in particular. It’s when she’s in the bath. (laugh)
KD:  You’re so easy to see through!
FM:  Yep.

Q:  So, what are the commonalities among the women you have dated to now?
FM:  They’re all very kind.
BT:  Very well said.
FM:  (laugh) I guess if I say it like that, they won’t get angry with me! (laugh)
BT:  Well, we’ve learnt something here. (laugh)

Q:  What is Fukuyama-san’s maxim in love?
FM:  Maxim in love….maxim in love……… “To Trust and To be Trusted”
KD:  (mutters to himself) That’s the thing.

Q:  Finally, with an expression that can show us all your charm as a 37-year old man, please tell us about Fukuyama Masaharu-san’s motto in life.
FM:  A ripe ear of rice bows its head as it stands.

["A ripe ear of rice bows its head as it stands" means "Successful people are in fact more modest".]

Q: Thank you very much Fukuyama Masaharu-san.
KD: Thank you so much. You can return to your seat now.
