The life of a Masha fan during a Fukuyama Masaharu Tour year Part 2

Budokan & Michishirube Tour (Jun~Jul)Michishirube Tour (Aug~Sep) & Inasayama

2009 Aug 01

Report in the HK forums that Masha went to a curry shop for lunch during his Hokkaido shows last week. He was recommended there by Yo Oizumi who was from Hokkaido. The restaurant owners reported it in their diary  -  http://www.ok-kart.com/curry/   (select: カリー軒ときどき日記)

In a nutshell, they were told on the night of 20/7 that Masha would be going there the next day for lunch. Of course they panicked. This is a very casual family restaurant.  XD

On 21/7, Masha arrived before the shop opened and they hung a FULL sign out so he would not be disturbed. Before he left, he asked when the restaurant had their day off. “Sunday.” “Why don’t you come to my concert?” So he invited the entire family over. Without needing to think about it, they said they gladly jumped at that opportunity! XD

On Sunday, when the family arrived at the concert hall, it was jampacked with people, but there was someone assigned to look after them. During the show, Masha showed pictures of where he went in Hokkaido, and lo, there was the picture of their restaurant! He even talked a bit about their menu.

Quote
“We (our whole family) were shocked.
Our hearts almost flew out of our mouths
We had not heard at all (that this was going to happen)
We were too stunned (to think) ” end quote

They had a wonderful time at the concert and were amazed at the unison of the fans. A staff came to meet them just before the concert ended and said “I’m so sorry we put the picture up (without asking).” Then he took them backstage and the family took a picture with him while they were waiting for Masha to come in after the concert. When Masha saw them, he shook hands with them and apologized for joking about their menu. They were so touched! And they felt he was so nice and kind!

Quote “Really, really, thank you for everything!” end quote

So of course, they got their concert goodies, the silver ribbons and the fuku-cup, and put them up for display in their shop the next day. ~It made me feel really nice and warm.

(Edit) According to Mashamasha, Masha left a message on Yo Oizumi’s phone, thanking him for the recommendation. Yo Oizumi wrote it in his blog, saying he’s not going to delete that phonemail

Awwwww… that is so nice of Masha. He treated them like VIP.

I’m also happy that even though he’s on tour and he can rest in his hotel room, he still decide to explore the area, try the food and maybe sightseeing a little bit. At least he can enjoy watching the scenery, it’s not everyday you got to visit Hokkaido. Good going

Report on the Hiroshima concerts on Aug 1-2
~ by Maruoko (attended in person) and Mashamasha (from fan boards) from HK forums. Many thanks to both of them!!

The ends of the lanes in the Hiroshima Green Arena could be elevated high enough to reach the Stands. Masha pretended to be Superman when it was raising. He was so close to the stands that fans could shake hands with him but he didn’t do it.On the first day, when tossing the cups of water, he actually handed one directly to a little boy in the stands. The boy immediately drank it up. On the second day, he aimed for SB but tossed the cup so high that it got stuck on the ceiling. He made an expression like he couldn’t believe it (eyes open wide) and tried again. But this time, the cup only made it to the wall separating SS and SB seats. Masha fell down on his knees, hammered the floor in exaggerated failure, and asked for a second chance. He finally succeeded and put on a “sooooo relieved” look.

The people at the stands were very excited and were almost able to touch him when they reached out. But he deftly avoided all hands, sometimes even splashing water straight onto the people’s faces. Everyone was apparently very happy to have been wet by Masha.

He didn’t ask for overseas fans on either day.

There was a part which was quite touching. This time at Hiroshima, Masha went back to visit a CD shop which he had been in 1991 when promoting the album “Lion”. The shop sells primarily Enka CDs. He had taken a picture with the shop owner in 1991 and this time, he found that the owner had kept the photo all these years and displayed it in the shop. Both “Keshin” and “Zankyo” CDs were placed at prominent spots. Masha was so touched that he took another picture with the owner and showed both photos in the concert. On the first day, he even helped to promote the shop, telling the fans to go there. The next day, Masha said he knew many fans did go and took pictures with the shop owner, but he reminded them that besides taking photos, they’ve got to buy their CDs from it too.

He also reported that he went to check up the big record stores as well. In either HMV or Tower Records (she’s not sure which one), he saw a huge promo picture of Perfume. So thinking that since his ‘kouhais’ were being treated so well, his Zankyo should get a pretty good spot. In the end, he found it……in the lowest left hand corner of the “CD’s for sale” rack. He repeated “lowest left hand corner” 5 times, very disappointed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Guys, there have been several reports of Masha sightings in the CD shops wherever he goes on tour (Saitama HMV for one). He likes to check out how much promotion his CDs have been getting, especially with new releases now. Perhaps you might run into him in Osaka??
Okay, I should not laugh, because that kinda sucks. I mean, Oyaji is in the area, every shop should fill with his posters and his CDs, because it makes business sense. Even non-fans might want to check out his music. It’s a free advertisement, it’s not everyday an artist will be available for promotion. It’s a win-win situation.But his reactions… lmao! Oh dear. Methinks someone in UMU might get their come-uppance.
Remember people, if you run upon him in Osaka, remember the Galapagos animals. Yes.
I am very sad to say that I will have to cancel my trip to Osaka. I have been inactive for the past 2days because I have the H1N1 virus. I have to self-quarantine at home. (which I am now & still feeling so unwell as I write) I don’t know if I can recover in time for my trip & that is very devasting. I am so upset & heartbroken that I am not able to go.”
- OMG!! Take care of your health first and foremost okay. Drink a lot of water. We will be here. Please don’t give up
- i wish u get well soon.  love u
- I’m so sorry!! Don’t give up hope yet! You’ve still got a week to go!
- Sorry to hear that! Take good care of yourself. U can make it. U can make it!!!
- Take good care of yourself and drink plenty of fluids. The quarantine will make you feel frustrated, but don’t give up hope
- Whatt???! You’d better take plenty of rest. no. make it full bed rest, and don’t worry about you plans. Be strong.
- How r u? get better right ?
- oh gosh! Health is more important. You can still attend Masha’s concert in future. Hope you have a speedy recovery. Take care!
Aug 19
Mina-san… Thanks for the encouraging words. I really appreciate them. I am better after a long rest. I need to quarantine myself for at least another 3days. I’m keeping the ticket as a memorabilia. I am so over the upset part & am optimistic I am able to attend Masha’s concert in the future. *keeping fingers & toes cross*
Masha reported that he went to this cheesecake shop in Osaka today. Even if he was well-known, he said he wouldn’t jump the queue - http://www.rikuro.co.jp/nanba.html
See anything special? Sandals maybe? The homepage: http://www.rikuro.co.jp/index2.html
In the pic he showed during the comcert, the shop staff was looking very dubiously at him not sure if it’s Fukuyama Masaharu, and Masha was shyly looking away…
OMG!! Is Gingerine-san watching tonight’s show??
News from the jp boards via mashamasha. Masha left his fly open (again) tonight!!
Apparently, it wasn’t until Sou that a staff told him about it…..
Yes, minna-san!!
I was there and witnessed the whole incident. It happened at catwalk in front of my section. He was halfway singing Sou and throwing water. At third throw, he was bending down to take more cups from the staff, and i saw the staff talking to him.He seemed to stop for a fraction of second and suddenly……………………………….he zipped up his fly!!!!!!
His face was straight and he threw the cup and kept singing!!!!
It caught us by surprise, the Japanese fans started talking and we verified what we saw. Yep…it was masha zipping his fly!!!At that time the stage was raised about the height of the VIP box, so the fans there must have super clear views
Oyaji~~ After 20 years, you should know to zip your fly. Oh oyaji~~~ I think I’m totally, absolutely smitten with you right now. Especially when you absolutely have no reaction whatsoever, *and* you continued singing *without* going off key. Good one. I think it’s probably happened during Sou, and it’s just happened for a while. If it’s earlier, then the staff that carries the water will tell him earlier at the beginning of the song.
Gingerine-san! Full report kudasai!
Masha was so high tonight and the fans kept shouting ‘masha…..masha’ everytime there was no music and no MC. Maybe that’s why both he and fans didn’t notice anything wrong with the pants, plus half of the time that part was well concealed by the guitar.
Now, where do i start with the report…….i kinda lost memory after the zip incident.
His voice was wonderful, especially when he sang the ballads…..Milk Tea, Saiai and Nagareboshi were better than CD version. The last song Konya Kimi Wo Daite is excellent, his guitar and voice just melt me. It’s meant to be sung live, not on CD.Of all the fast songs, i love RedxBlue and 99. Like Izumi-san mentioned, Masha’s guitar skill is surprisingly good. My hubby loves the guitar and the drum part of Tsuiko Ame no Naka. I think his favorite is the drummer
During Kiss Shite, we were a bit late saying ‘Kisssss…..shite’ it was so funny and the screen showed the 3, 2, 1 to prompt us for the next chorus, and we finally got it right. Masha also noticed this and mentioned it during the MC.
Tonight, he showed the photos taken in Osaka:
-the ones where he went to buy cheesecake and the shop-assistant girl just stared (thinking is it Fukuyama…..?) at him while masha was taking a peek into the paperbag.
-the ones where he went to record stores and copied other artist style.
-the one where he watched the baseball game (he’s almost in-recognisable).
-the ones in Umeda and Namba!!!!! (taken earlier today, very near where my hotel is).
Before the encore, he was introducing all the musician and the backing-vocals, and this part became quite long because each of them was showing special moves, like  bowing to the audience in ballerina style, and the percussionist Mataro had the audience clapping very long. One of the backing vocal was also from Osaka (? not very sure as my Japanese was limited) and Masha was joking around with her.
Before he sang the last song, Masha was asking questions and our replies were very very loud……he had to pretend to cover his ear.  We didn’t want him to end….
Konya, kimi wo daite……
Yep, Sou was after Heaven. It was definitely the moment of the concert. He was throwing water at other sections during Heaven, that’s why our section got water and the ‘incident’ during Sou  He was showing his usual moves during Heaven at one section at the catwalk right in front of this little girl (gulp!!), i wonder if he noticed. And at another section, there was this fan at arena reaching for the cup, and Masha simply drop the cup gently for him to catch……so nice of him!!
It seemed that the zipper was all along undone, it’s hard to imagine the zipper just came undone on the pants that tight and that Heaven moves caused it to become loose. It’s just that nobody really noticed it. My bino was innocently reviewing Masha, and noticed some fabric bulging, thinking surely he checked this time, not knowing what would the happened.
Maybe he needs to hire a PA to check this before he come on-stage
Yes, it was a great night with Masha. He was wearing this tight silver pants. He looks taller in person, maybe because he’s also slimmer now. Even the Michishirube v-neck T-shirt looked a bit loose on him, and i still can believe he wears M size (it doesn’t come in L size). Oh, forgot to mention that he had an ‘f‘ tattoo on his left upper arm and he rolled-up the sleeve to show-off. Anyone know if he has it on all concert nights?
Osaka-Jo Hall, 2 hours before the concert starts and it was drizzling.
Michishirube truck.
And, i had to walk pass this giant everyday to get to hotel
TODAY’S THE BIG DAY!!
All the best for the Inasayama Concerts, Masha!
Hope everything goes well and the weather is good, not too hot and it doesn’t rain (esp tomorrow)
To Masha and everyone there, enjoy yourselves!!
SMS First Hand Inasayama Reports by Midori:
Yesterday at the Nagasaki airport, she bumped into Inoue Akira-san at the luggage belt. She spoke to him in English telling him about the overseas fans’ love for Masha. He was really surprised to hear that she was from HK and asked her “Are you here for the concert?”. She said he was much cooler than she’d imagined. I forgot to ask what his english was like as he’d spent some time in the UK according to his HP.
Today, Masha started the concert at Big N. He held a starting ceremony (the likes of a baseball match) there, then took the helicopter and van to the concert venue. The van drove straight up to the stage and Masha ran up directly.
At the part where he usually takes attendance, he said, “There’s not much time today. I guess most of you are from different parts of Japan. So, I want to know Who’s from overseas?” She said they were all so surprised because it was the very first question! The site was too big and open for them to shout so she said they raised their hands or fans instead, as it was easier for Masha to see. He said, “Wow, there really are people from overseas!”Then he feigned a foreigner’s accent and thanked them in Japanese.
He wore red long pants, a T-shirt inside, a denim shirt on top and basketball sneakers. After Yakusoku no Oka, Hello, Melody and Sorega Subetesa, he took the denim shirt off and donned a vest instead. He had a blue ring on his right index finger and looked as good as usual. I asked and she said he didn’t seem to have lost too much weight.
I’ll write more as the others start reporting back.
Unconfirmed Line-up from 2ch:
Yakusoku no Oka
HELLO
MELODY
Sore ga Subetesa
It’s Only Love
Milk Tea
Survivor
Phantom
Koufukuron
Fellow
Mikan Iro no Natsuyasumi
Good Luck
Tabibito
vs
Peach
Gang
HEAVEN
RED×BLUE
Tsuioku no Ame no Naka
Keshin
Sou
Ashita no Show
Michishirube
KISS Shite
18
Sai Ai
If this list is true, then he’s done it again! Ending it with “18″ then “Sai Ai”. Now that he’s back in Nagasaki, I wonder if he’s gone to check up his old friend.
Inasayama Concert Highlights (from mashamasha at HK forums)
The Inasayama Live today, in terms of entertainment and excitement, exceeds all other Masha Live shows from before. It was breathtaking, I really wonder how many resources (financial/human/props/time) was spent here. Strictly speaking, it was more than a concert….I will just summarise the best and most amazing parts:
1. In the opening, Masha was in the Big N Stadium (the baseball stadium for the free viewing). He initiated the opening pitch with the Mayor and Michi. Masha was the pitcher. Then he took a helicopter to Inasayama and transferred by car to the stage. The big screen in Inasayama showed the entire process and journey.
2. Newly added in the line up was the Nagasaki-Inasayama-special-medley (Fellow - Mikan Iro no Natsuyasumi - Good luck - Touku e - Tabibito) Masha stood at the very end of the centre catwalk throughout this part. It was the most touching part of the this entire live, the big screen showed many fans wiping their tears.
3. The stage design was brilliant. In the last Inasayama live (2000), they didn’t put much into the stagework, keeping the old stage intact. But this time, the stage was even more beautifully done up than during the Tour. Dome-shaped + extra long LED backing, and made full use the advantages of an outdoor show, e.g. no silver ribbons were shot out during “Peach!”, it was fireworks!! The firebeams during “Keshin” was not only on the stage, but on top of the dome shooting straight into the air. During Sai Ai, the big screen was showing the moon live right on top of them at the time, and at the final part of the song, the stage suddenly lit up with thousands of tiny lights, just like stars but the most surprising part was that all the trees encircling the audience lit up as well. It was so so captivating. The acoustics were surprisingly good too (something I did not expect for an outdoor concert)
4. Masha looked like he had tears in his eyes all night, espocially during “eighteen”, the final part was a bit hard for him, ‘cos he was trying trying to hold it in…….
5. During the encore, masha put on a chinese outfit and did the dragon dance with a group of high school girls. The dragon dance is a famous festivity in Nagasaki - the Nagasaki Kunchi Festival (see here) to ask for good fortune, so Masha said he did it because he was praying for everyone there. He was the pearl-bearer, and because he had to sway and swing the pole all around, the man who was so used to serious jumping during his fast songs, was also a bit out of breath and red in the face at the end.
6. He didn’t have the fake ass on during Peach!, in fact he displayed the entire array of fake asses that were used before (with T-backs and O-backs etc), chose the one with 「稻佐山」 Inasayama written on it and put it on in front of every one. In the middle of the song, he actually sat on the side of the catwalk and let a little kid scratch his fake ass.
7. During the encore, the fans called out 「もってこい」 instead (This was the Nagasaki dialect for one more time i.e. もう一回/もう一度)
8. The Souvenir for today was the fresh-off-the-press Nagasaki local newspaper extra, it was all about today’s live report with pictures of today’s show. You can see one of the pictures in this site : http://www.nagasaki-np.co.jp/kiji2/2009082903.shtml
9. There was a funny part. During an MC segment, he said that he’ll be singing 3 songs from the Zankyo album next. But the music for “It’s Only Love” came up! Masha had made a mistake in the rundown (should be It’s only love + milk tea, then 3 album songs: survivor, phantom, koufukuron). he immediately cried out that he made a mistake, making all of us laugh. Then he had a dig at himself, saying he must have shocked his band members + staff silly when he talked about the 3 album songs, and when It’s only love started playing, it then shocked his fans silly. But he went on to say this was one of the fun things about a live show, you wouldn’t get it anywhere else. ”
Thanks mashamasha for the wonderful report!
For an idea of what the stage looked like, see the post http://www.nagasaki-np.co.jp/kiji/20090829/02.shtml)
Awesome!!
Thanks, that’s amazing!! Especially love the bird’s eye view and imagining Sai Ai in the dark with the stage and all the surrounding trees lighted up……
Yahoo headline news:
http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20090830-00000003-dal-ent
Going into his 20th anniversary year, Fukuyama Masaharu (40) started his “Summer Big Establishment Fest” outdoor concerts in Inasayama Nagasaki on 29/8, after an absence of 9 years and in a true “return of the music”. The live concert was also shown for public viewing at the Big N Stadium 5 km away. It is estimated that 80,000 people will be involved in these 2 days of the 29 and 30/8 and the “fukuyama” effect is expected to bring in a projected financial impact of 1.5 billion yen to Nagasaki.
“I’m back!! I’ve used these 20 years to build up my sound and I swear here to Nagasaki that I have returned with my music. Let the concert today…live on forever!” After the last concert in 6/2000, he held a starting ceremony this time in the Public Viewing stadium. Using his pitching skills from his elementary school softball days, Fukuyama took the pitcher’s mound again after 28 years and pitched a dead ball. Amidst the cheering, he then went on a helicopter straight over to Inasayama.
The show was a luxurious manifestation of his gratitude to his hometown. Reconstructing the stage to 60 metres wide and 20 metres high, a total of 104,000 light bulbs were used aroung the entire venue. With a rundown of 26 of his best old and new songs like “Hello”and “Keshin”, it was a true summer fest spanning 3 and a half hours, with a magnificant fireworks (500) and fire show.
Nagasaki was filled with an atmosphere of celebration. The JR station had a huge “Welcome Back” banner and the local newspaper issued 80,000 copies of extras on this. When he held his photo exhibition last spring in Nagasaki, it brought in 70,000 visitors and an economic impact of 1.1 billion yen in over 2 months. But this time, 80,000 people came in just 2 days. Even fans from overseas, bringing the projected economic income to 1.5 billion yen for Nagasaki.
Initiated by the collection of 70,000 signatures by the Nagasaki Young Generation Association, this live show in Inasayama where his parents home is, embodies Fukuyama’s love for his hometown and is proof that the connection between Fukuyama and Nagasaki will never die.
Note: 1億 is the equivalent of 100 million
Aww…. Even the crowd in the stadium is also joining in the fun. Which is a bit difficult considering the man is not physically there. By the way, when he throw the first baseball pitch, he missed. tsk tsk… But he brought in 15 billion yen! Sugoi! for these two days, with special mention of overseas fans. Yay! Good one Masha. Here’s hoping today will go on without a hitch.
I think Amuse will definitely release it in a box set.
Question is: when?
Caught a 3 seconds-glimpse during Saiai - the stage and setting were so beautiful. The wait in front of black screen for 30mins was worth it. Hope somebody out there managed to record it.
Also Masha’s percussionist Mataro-san has updated his blog with some behind-the-scenes at the Tour.
http://www.mataro.jp/s-nikki/2009-08.html#0827-2
More updates from mashamasha on the 30th:
1. We were able to sit quite close to the front today. The catwalk was a T-shape and we sat on the side of the vertical part. The entire Inasayama medley masha was right in front of us…..when he asked about overseas fans, we’re probably the ones closest so he looked at us when we replied.
2. They showed one more part during the opening, where Masha got into the helicopter. Yesterday, Sou-chan (who was MC at the Big N stadium) told us about it, but today, we actually saw him and his staff run over to the helipad. Fans who got the news were there to see him off. When the helicopter reached Inasayama, it actually hovered low over the outdoor stage, so that we could see Masha wave to us from the cockpit. Of course, we didn’t stop flinging our towels at them either, from the moment the helicopter got into our sight.
3. The RV that Masha took from the helicopter to the stage, was parked all through the show on the right side of the audience. At the end, Masha went backstage after he told us there was going to be fireworks, and the RV very quickly drove off. He probably left without even changing his clothes (afraid that we might surround him….)
4. There was a very touching part during “18-eighteen”. The big screen in Inasayama was showing the Big N stadium, when suddenly an enormous banner slowly rolled down over the heads of the audience there. It said “ましゃ、でっかい愛をありがとう、おいも長崎のために動けやん” (In was in Nagasaki ben, so the approximate meaning was “Masha, thanks for your big love, we will also act for nagasaki”. I believe Masha had no idea this was coming, he looked stunned for a while at the big screen, then had such a sweet smile.
5. During “Sai Ai”, even the grass fields of the Big N were lighted up, it was beautiful
6. After the show, we had to wait our turn to go out. The farthest blocks were to leave first, so because the front blocks had a long time to wait, they actually replayed the WOWOW telecast for us. Some fans inadvertently started the dance moves as they were watching.
Overall, the papers today were all talking about the 1.5 billion yen economic boost, but (I’m sure) they had also spent a fortune on the entire live, from the stage effects to the shuttle buses (for the audience up and down the hill), even the goods stalls were so professionally done (this event had a bigger impact in Nagasaki than the local elections there). Everywhere we went, people were talking about Masha / Inasayama live / the JR station festival settings. Traffic control in the areas around Inasayama; the crowds in the lobby; the never-shortening queues outside (Masha’s favourite ramen shop in) Shianbashi (we couldn’t get in…..), they all gave me the impression that this “summer fest” is not only Masha’s own concert but a big festival in the whole of Nagasaki……
It seems like Nagasaki was disconnected temporarily from Japan last weekend. While everyone in Japan is busy with the election, people of Nagasaki has something *ehem* more important at hand. Glad to hear the event is a success, though it feels slightly anti-climax a bit for Masha to continue the concert tour after this huge display of LOVE.”
“Yeah, and the next 2 venues are smaller ones, if I remember correctly. Tokushima has like 5,000 (?) seats and Sendai has a capacity of 7,000 only. He’ll feel very cosy after the space.
And pics of Big N here: http://aibiki.exblog.jp/11828297/
Oyaji is looking like a rockish hippy in that hair, and it suits him! LOL. I want to make a gif of his dorky dance, just so much lol-worthy there. And that tattoo is kinda hot. Especially on that biceps. Yes.
So adorable in the outfit. Is there a particular reason why he is wearing RED pants. To match with the chinese traditional gown or just because he likes the colour Or ….. he needs to stand out.
Oh yes the tattoo, me like. It is very eye catching.
That’s nice blue sky over there in Nagasaki
I see an obasan at first row
Love the sunset view as well.
*Raise hand* for the tattoo.
The ‘f’ tattoo was also there during the Osaka concert, and he kept the sleeves up to show-off, just a like happy kid with new toy
Oyaji had a hair cut. It was neater than before, definitely well prepared for the outdoor concert since he can’t have too much hairspray for the windblown scene
I was crying the whole way through phantom. Tears were non-stop. My goodness, if I hear it live, I probably be sobbing on the floor or something, can’t take too much of it. With only one song, not only Masha shows he has a great vocal, but he also swept away any nagging feeling about his songwriting abilities AND put himself into the rank of Great Guitarists. (yes, it deserve a capital).
Sep 03
I’m very very very touched by his emotional attachment to his home town..
though I can’t really relate to his feelings now (maybe I will when I’m at his age )
but I can sort of get that deep feeling through his songs and all that he had done for this Inasayama live
I am quite impress to see how supportive people in Nagasaki is. Even Mr Mayor received a fangirl squee, really! The cooperation between local government, amuse and wowow is wonderful to see. Not to mention the participation of Masha’s high school brass bands dragon dance team. Everyone in Big N is also into it, even though Masha is not physically there.
Sep 06
I will never forget masha’s smile when he saw the bikini girl from the monitor on the stage. Actually, he looked a bit embarrassed and did not know how to respond to this surprise given by the camera man.
He said in Ann last night that he actually had the pants INSIDE his basball uniform, ‘cos he didn’t want any accidents to happen when zipping up in the van. Remember….. n-p singer?
Good call to wear double pants inside. We also do not want you to have *ahem* additional free shows too…. One ‘legendary un-z’ will do for this tour.
THE PEACH IS OUT!!!
http://www.amuse.co.jp/fukuyama/mashamaro-shuppan/sp/tour2009/#1
Thank you Masha!! Thank you Amuse!!
Oyaji! How I love thee. When you turned 40, your goods also reflects your true cheeky nature. I love it.
Ohohoh!!! the Peach! is out!!! They are really cute!! Wanna have them!
Do u gals think it is a bit crazy to put the Paech! cushion in office?
Sep 19
Guys, in the worst case scenario, if it really runs out before I can get my hands on them in Yoyogi, I might just do a bulk purchase from ASMART. So please have them on ASMART soon! Then I can send them to you guys.
Not to mention the office, I’m not sure if I can bring it into the house even! First the…ummm…massager, now the cushion….
Sep 22
Here are the pics of the different types (click to expand):
Keychain (flesh / pink):
Cushion (flesh / pink):
Yes if they still have a limitation, then maybe we can order through ASMART in one lot so we save on the shipping?
For those who have not been on the HK forums yet, Mashamasha has reported back on the first night of Yoyogi (thanks a million!!):
very brief live report today, those going to yoyogi live in this week may skip it if you want to keep the surprise
Quote
the design of 花道 (catwalk) is the same with inasayama one, i.e. T-side 花道, the length of the vertical one is the length of arena block A, and the horizontal one is the length from Block B3 - B5 and it divides Block A and Block B. When i entered the hall today, i was totally shocked when seeing this T-side 花道, and found difficult to breathe when i found that the seat i had today was on the 3rd row in front of the horizontal 花道 ….. (i was Block B5 row 3)
and not just the T-side 花道 is same with inasayama, masha added the inasayama medley into the rundown. So from the beginning he said he would sing a lot, but we just did not expect he means the whole inasayama medley is added to the rundown! (while he still keeps the tour songs like 群青,流れ星 (Gunjou, Nagareboshi) etc which had been removed in inasayama live) And again, this medley part was done on the T-side 花道 , i really did not expect what happened in inasayama would ever happen again
There was a surprise in kisss shi te, there are around 10 super big balloons which suddenly appeared and let the auidence to play, when the big balloon breaks, we found that inside each big balloon, there is hundreds normal size balloons
masha looks obviously darker (not just his face, but also his arms, hands 心口 and his hair was more curly)
yes, 紫色 (purple) o-back, and he added a bell to O-back, i don’t know how to describe, the bell is with a string and he asks the guitar player to pull down the string, the bell is broken and one paper with some words (i forgot to see the words) comes out
~~~~~~~~

代々木最高!

~~~~~~~~
yes yes!!!! and it is masha’s own handwriting, and on the pat pat it writes 大江戸 (Ooedo, big Edo, Edo is the historic name for Tokyo)
he sang redXblue, in previous shows he would either sing ON and On or RedXBlue, but tonight he sang both!
too rush today, i don’t even have time to look at the flowers, but from 2 channel they said there is one from 小龍馬, and i also look at the VIP seats, because i haven’t used binoculars, not sure any artists have come today
p.s. he did not ask anyone from overseas, actually he did not talk as much as in previous shows, because of the inasayama medley added, and the picture part is cut away. Endquote
~~~~~~~~

In a nutshell, the catwalks are set up Inasayama style i.e. T-shaped instead of both sides. The horizontal lane is right in front of arena B with both ends capable of rising up. New fake ass….with a bell you can pull and a note that falls out saying “Yoyogi is the best!” Inasayama Medley added in (thank you Masha)!! so less time for MC.

Of course for us poor folk sitting way up in the stands, the T-shaped catwalk is not working in our favour at all
Anyway, just happy to be there and to get to hear more songs.

P.S. They still have limitation on Peach!! goods on first day. We’ll see.

They played everything from previous concerts including RedxBlue. Many Many songs!
But first, MINNA-SAN!! Tonight 10:54pm Japan Time!! Nihon TV 日テレ (i.e. HK/S’pore/Mlysia 21:54pm)

So that camera belongs to News Zero! I thought it was weird why didn’t any Nagasaki report from inside the helicopter, apparently it belongs to News Zero.

I’m also slightly worry about Masha based on Lone’s first day report. *The caring, cute, sweet fan in me is coming out - quote: Sou-chan* It seems he encountered a setback that made him wish the rest of the concert goes well. My first reaction was: He should end it after Nagoya and used this time to properly rest before starting with Ryomaden. Masha~ Please take care

Though I am so happy that I can go for the Yoyogi concerts, I am worried about Masha’s health too. I am just afraid that he would be exhausted. He should take more rest so as to prepare the starting with Ryomaden

Sep 26

*shock*

Why doesn’t anyone warn me about that… shaggy hair. *is really shock* OMG! But I’m also glad he’s growing out the brown-dye to go back to his original colour. And is that the Budokan shirt I saw him wearing while he practise his pitching? It is! Wow!

LOL! The helicopter oyaji is cool. Oh, our star is coming? *put the sunglasses on* I wonder how long does it take for the volunteer to study the Keshin choreography? Aww… this is a good piece by News Zero.

Currently our girls are fighting with the rest of the fangirls. Ganbatte! And don’t forget to report.

Sep 29

Gals, I feel depressed after back to HK. I dun know how long I need to take to adjust my emotions. Yesterday I went to Tokyo Tower before I left Tokyo, I kept singing 東京にもあったんだ. ( I was really touched when Masha sang this song during the concerts!) And when the train passed Yoyogi station and announced that “the next station is Yoyogi”, Masha’s voice appeared again in my mind “Yoyogi! Yoyogi! Yoyogi!”. I really wanted to shout out with “Hai~” as response.”

Full report would be out, but I need more time. I found myself getting lost now. Sorry!
Izumi-san, u know what, I just can’t listen to “Heart” now. Otherwise, tears can’t stop!!!

Oh dear, it’s that last Encore, isn’t it? I heard the entire hall was singing together. That was so sweet…..
I hope they include that in the DVD!

Me too. I feel so sad that the concert has come to an end and at the same time relieved that he can get proper rest now before he starts Ryoma Midori-san….you are so lucky to be able to sing “Heart” together with him.
The instrumental version was the unofficial parting song for each concert. Everytime i listen to it, i’ll remember the concert.

Sep 30

I can remember the zip incident quite well though, can only blame him for choosing to have it happen right in front of my section
The zip incident has manage to sneak into my Top Five of Masha’s Concert Moments. Of course, this comes from a someone who didn’t attend the concert. Truly memorable.

Yea, everyone feels the same after the concerts ended. This year is really a memorable year for Masha and us. 40 shows in 13 cities with half a million attendance…. we all were there for Masha and Masha was there for us!
“Heart” is the very last encore. We all sang together when the music started. And we sang even louder when the lyrics were shown on the big TV. It was very warm and touched.

Oct 02

Minna-san, a very rough report for 9/27.

Be honest, I was a bit heavy-laden when I entered the concert hall on 9/27. The 4-month National Tour finally came to an end. It was the last night that we can share with Masha this year. After taking pictures for the flowers and changing my concert tee, I immediately went for my seat. This night, I sat on the South J Block 2/F. Though I was on the 2/F, the view was not that bad. Since J Block was just on the side of the stage.

When the band came out from the backstage, everyone in the hall started to shout and clap. We all expected Masha and just kept shouting and jumping for joy. When Masha came out, you can’t hear anything except “Masha, Masha, Masha!!!”.

Everyone was in a very high spirit tonight. When Masha said “Hi~” to us, each block replied with a great shout and some may wave the Keshin Towel as well. SS seats were particularly high. They all shouted and jumped when Masha face to them. (I was afraid that the temporary seating for the SS seats would be collapsed if the fans non-stop jumping! Haha.).

Masha did ask where the fans come from this night. However, due to the time limit, he asked in a broad way with Hokkaido, Kyushu, Honshu, Shikoku and Okinawa only. Actually when Masha started to ask where we came from, I got ready to shout out once he asked about Kaigai. However, Masha disappointed me this time. He didn’t ask about the overseas fans.

Yea, everyone was high that night. We all clapped and waved for all the songs. The run down was just the same as the show on 9/26. But I can say, the songs arrangement just drove me crazy. The emotional “Milk Tea” followed by “Survivor”; awesome “Phantom” followed by sweet “Koufukuron” and then came back to “流れ星”… my feelings just go up and down! And up and down!

As you may knew already, the Inasayama medley was added for Yoyogi. This part was really touching. As I can feel how Masha feels about his hometown… how much he missed his family, his friends and his hometown. But, well, the last song of the medley “旅人” brought us back to the exciting moment.

For Peach!, the pink O-back came back again!!! Same as the concerts before, naughty Masha kept playing with it. The word “千秋楽” was printed on the peach. (This slang refers to the “Final day” in the performance that does the same repertoire for two or more days.) A bell was added to the Peach! after the song was finished and there was a massage inside the bell. The massage for 9/27 was different from the one for 9/26 and which was “You are the Best ! / You are so Great !” for this night.

“Saiai” was included in the encore part. The live version of “Saiai” was even better than the CD version. Masha’s deep voice made me heart-breaking again.

Usually, after the first part of encore, Masha would say thank you to the band and then the band would go back to backstage… but this was not for tonight. After “18~eighteen~”, Inoue-san got the mic. and talked to us. At that time, I was extremely excited since I was not sure if there was any special announcement. How lucky I was… this night I watched the show with a Japanese expert, she explained to me what Inoue-san was talking about… the band was going to sing a song for Masha!!! It was a simple song with one or two sentence, the band just sang together for Masha! How lovely they are~ and they sent a massage to Masha too. It was really a touching moment since the band treats Masha so well and you can feel how they enjoy working with Masha!

For the last part of encore, the song was “東京にもあったんだ”… another wonderful song. Due to the lyrics, due to the atmosphere… everyone seems to be sad at that time. Yea, we all knew that the concert nearly came to the end. It was the last night and we all hope that Masha could stay for longer. So we all clapped and shouted, clapped and shouted…

I am sure Masha would like to stay for longer too. After “東京にもあったんだ”, he just stayed on the stage and looked at us and smiled to us. I won’t forget how warm Masha’s smile is. We kept shouting with “いいえ” to show that we didn’t want to leave. Yap, no one wanted to leave… Masha got back a guitar and started to sing “HEART”. We clapped together and sang “HEART” together with Masha.
At the very last, Masha said “thank you” to us and to those who had supported and assisted him for such a long time. Finally, Masha gave us a big KISS !!!

Indeed, I would like to say “thank you” to Masha too. I will never forget this memorable night!

“Masha, thanks for bringing us such wonderful concerts, thanks for providing us those great music. We will support you forever. また、会おうね!!!

Yes, that’s what makes his concerts so special, isn’t it? That intimate touch. He’s singing to each of us and we’re singing with him. You speak for all of us Midori-san
The finale is really touching, especially with the band and staff thanking him. You’re right, it reflects on how well he treats his people.

Yoyogi Concert Report 26/9/2009

This is my third Masha concert and my last one for the Michishirube tour. To be honest, I had my doubts when I decided to go for Yoyogi. I was afraid I might be seeing the same things again. Experienced fans have touted how each concert would have the same rundown and MC (other than 1 or 2 songs, and the photo sharing), and how professional he is, to be able to maintain that. I wasn’t sure I agree. To me, Fukuyama Masaharu is someone who has never failed to innovate and surprise, and that is why he is in the realm of top professionals. But I was going back to the same Tour. What did I expect? Was I being too harsh, too unreasonable?

Having come in contact with many of Masha’s devoted fans, I have since discovered that I am in no way one of the die-hards. It’s not good enough for me just to see him. I started out being amazed by his music, and I remain to this day, his biggest follower (and perhaps critic) in that respect. While he has never let me down with the quality of his work, I wasn’t sure how I would react this time if I were to see the same show as Yokohama again. And getting there is not like walking down the road to the nearest ticket outlet. It is a near impossible feat for many.

But now, I am so glad that I went, and I feel very privileged to have been able to take part in an accomplishment this big and of such quality.

I also realize that his concerts are so packed with detail that it does take quite a few viewings to appreciate it fully.
- Like the way his shadow in silhouette projects onto the back of the hall, like a giant of a man reaching the ceiling (or the sky?) as he enters with hands outstretched;
- Or how much the band members actually enjoy themselves playing “Koufukuron” (Inoue Akira-san on his big and small piano, Ogura-san on his ukulele), happy smiles on all their faces!
- And the projections on the big screen with each song :
Sunflowers and children’s faces in “Gunjou”; the shooting star and the night sky breaking into dawn in “Nagareboshi”; the story told with the “walking feet” in “Koufukuron”; the falling star which explodes into flowers in “Saiai”, just to name a few…… Coupled with the music and his voice, his concerts are a genuine visual and audio extravaganza.

The Yoyogi concert has once again shown me what a true professional he is and a world-class entertainer. I say entertainer (for want of a better word), because to classify him in any single role does him no justice at all. I liked this concert better than Yokohama, I was more involved and enjoyed myself immensely. Perhaps it was because he sang more, but he had to cut a sizeable part of his MC as a result. Which was a pity as he is funny (not that I can understand enough). Well, I guess we can’t have both.

Some highlights of his MC:

In calling audience attendance, he didn’t ask where we came from. (For a while, I thought that was a good sign, until I saw Midori-san’s report.) He did check for first-timers and those who’ve been to his concerts before. And when he asked how many men were there, the whole stadium rocked with raucous calls of “MASHAAAAA”. This was by far the most I had seen of my 3 nights. “How many of you think you’re young?” Needless to say, we couldn’t let the men win. And while we were shouting our heads off, the big screens zoomed in on a westerner with his young kid who was so so cute!

There was no time for picture sharing. Masha thanked us, for enabling him to become the third male solo artist in Japan to have 10 top singles and the first (and only?) singer-songwriter to achieve it. Towards the end, he said something along the lines of “Tomorrow is the last day of our tour. It’s lasted the whole summer this year and it’s been wonderful but everything has a time to end.” And he thanked us again for our support throughout.

As for the core concert:

The rundown was similar in most parts, but the variations effectively made this into a totally different experience. The catwalk was changed from the left and right lanes into the T-shape design from Inasayama, with the horizontal lane cutting in between blocks A and B of the arena, and an accordian mount at both ends. People sitting in block B must have got the show of their lives since Masha was down that lane a lot.

The concert started with “Gunjou” as before and, the acoustics could not have been more perfect! The sound was crisp and well-balanced. We could hear each instrument well and Masha’s voice ever so clearly. It was simply marvelous, the band was superb and Masha’s guitar was top grade. It was as if they were playing right in my own living room and from “On and On” to “Sore ga Subetesa”, I was dancing in the midst of them, totally controlled by the music.

Then after the first MC, someone decided to turn (or leave?) the guitars volume up. Full blast. Masha’s mic as well, loud loud loud. “It’s Only Love” and “Milk Tea” somehow lost their touch, despite the high quality of the band and singing. (I’m glad it was better for the next day) But “Phantom” was still able to create serious chills. That is how strong the song is. And “Koufukuron” is the ever cure I guess (love the tinge of Beatles in the middle). Half-way through, I found myself bobbing around again, and suddenly I realized that the problem seemed to have been fixed.

Next, he walked straight up to the junction of the T and began the Inasayama Medley. The acoustics were back to normal. I still cannot believe how beautiful his voice can sound just on its own. Honestly he doesn’t need any music backing. “Good Luck” and “Tooku e” made my heart melt, this was what they call the moment of eternity I guess, and I didn’t want it to end. The songs may have been written to suit his range, but they show that he is one hell-of-a songwriter. Perhaps this is his biggest strength? And perhaps it was also time to bring us back to reality, therefore the sudden change in mood with “Tabibito”…..

And I’m glad he did, for the next part was the highlight of the entire concert. The part where you’re one with the audience, and you cannot control your arms and legs, and you scream your heart out at the band solos and of course, his guitar, in fact, whenever you get a chance to. The Rock Part. 7 songs from “vs” through “Peach” and “Gang” all the way to “Sou”.

And how can I leave out the fake ass? Of course he had to have a new face for Yoyogi. Same O-back but with the words “千秋楽” (senshuuraku, i.e. final stage) on one cheek. Then of course, he had to spread the cheeks to show us ….his Fuku 福 logo….right in the middle of the cut. Next he hung 2 bells and a scroll down the ass and with his back to us, asked Ogura-san to pull the string which opened the scroll to show the words “代々木最高!!” (Yoyogi is the best!!). Try to imagine him swaying his fake ass with the 2 bells and a long strip of paper hanging down between his legs. We..were..hysterical.

Without waiting for us to breathe, he went straight into Gang. Not much action here, perhaps he saw all the kids in the hall, or perhaps he thought our hearts couldn’t take any more excitement. But the music was enough. I also got to hear “Red x Blue” live for the first time. What can I say? For the man who wrote “Phantom” and “Koufukuron” in the same space of time, one can only marvel at the variety of music that he can produce. Of course, the arrangement for “Red x Blue” is a big factor (he arranged it himself in the CD), but the basic melody has so many variations, I felt like I’ve been taken on a rollercoaster ride, or a great adventure. In fact, like many of his songs, ADDICTING is the word for me. Thank you Masha!

By “Ashita no Show”, we realized the concert was ending. Maybe Masha felt it too, for the song was a bit difficult for him. For someone who could sing so strongly without backing other than a guitar, I find it hard to believe he would have problems here. But the loudspeaker was in the way and we couldn’t ascertain with his face on the big screen.

When it was time for Kiss Shite, huge balloons appeared in the arena. A staff tried to carry the balloon onto the 2/F for us, and failed, for when they burst, hundreds of tiny balloons came out. Because of our seat, we couldn’t get any silver strips or hearts from the previous songs, so we went crazy jumping for the balloons. In the end, the man sitting in front of us caught two and gave one to Midori-san and myself. I don’t know about Midori-san, but I was seriously considering smooching him up if it weren’t for his wife next door.

The final (acoustic) encore was, to our huge surprise, “Tokyo ni mo Attanda”, sung live for the first time after the 2007 Daikanshasai. It was like an old friend. The fan behind us was crying her heart out and I was quietly singing to it. Masha was saying goodbye and arigatou. He didn’t stay long on stage after that.

Arigatou Masha, for everything and a wonderful wonderful summer. Thank you for all the hard work. Thank you for this 20th anniversary present to us fans. And next time, I will be there.

Omg Agree that we need to watch the concerts more than once
They put in a lot of efforts into the whole lighting, visual effects
No one would have the clear head to notice all that when watching the concert for the first time

OMG…. The report from both Izumi and Midori made my eyes welled up with tears. I imagine the emotions that every fans must be feeling at that time.

I read from one fan’s blog she went to 15 of his concert. Amazing. And each is as exciting as the next.

He has made me cried, laugh, heart melting moments…. managed to pull all sort of feelings from every possible ways. How Oyaji have touch & inspired so many people throughtout. Yes, Izumi-san the word is addiction. I don’t mean in a bad way but with great admiration for what he does & the person he is.

Thank you, midori-san and izumi-san for the wonderful reports

Totally agree that it’s not enough to watch his concert only once, because there’s so much details in the concert, it’s not possible to see and experience all of it in 3hours.

And the truth is, his voice, singing live, is simply superb.
The lighting, videoclips, stage settings, etc are all playing supporting roles to his voice.
Can’t get enough…..

Yes, addiction is the word

um… I am not familiar with those lighting and stage setting stuff, but I am just proud of all the fans in the concert hall. It is really amazing when u saw all the fans waving the pink towel together… It is amazing to see all of us to hold our hands up and wave and sing together… They were so ordered!!! I can’t explain how touching I was at that time. The intimate atmosphere just melted me..

Queuing for goods (This was taken before noon on 26/9 - more than 100 people already)

The goods stalls

The Flowers (sorry I missed Yoko Maki and Ryoko Hirosue, I thought I had them but I didn’t )

And he was throwing a lot of guitar picks on the stage, at least 2 guitar picks per songs and more if he’s singing fast songs. Maybe the staffs pick them up to use again. But since the design was specific to the concert (tour or daikanshasai), what will they do after the concert remain a mystery.

The guitar picks are all nicely designed.
He should consider releasing a set of picks from the different concerts to commemorate the 20th Anniversary.
Best to be included with the 20th Anniv Concert DVD

We saw him throwing a lot of his guitar picks out to the audience as well, especially when he came over to our side on the 26th, there was a song where I think he threw 4 or 5 picks out.

I think he means to throw it to the audience because girls from the other forum who were sitting near the front rows, mentioned they saw the picks flying out. But it’s the lucky few who catch them

Oct 05

here are the guitar picks for the Tour (thanks iwishiamacat from HK forums):

Fans at the front in Yoyogi said the pink one was used for that concert, while the blue and green set with the fans was used for Inasayama.

For Budokan:

And on 27/9, Inoue Akira-san threw this guitar to the audience (thanks mashamasha)

Looking simply at the props he used for this tour, and thinking about all the things he’s used or produced in the past 19 years, it’s such a big big pity that they should have to be stuffed up somewhere in a dark storehouse (*think raiders of the lost ark) never to see the light of day again, after every achievement. While it’s time to move on, it would also be nice to have something to remind everyone else of the good times AND HARD WORK that Masha and the team have put in over all these years. The target audience should definitely be us fans and fans-to-be.

OMG a full scale official Masha exhibition would be massive. Charge a nominal fee and they could end up making millions. I bet many people, even some fans would be surprised that he’s done such a lot..But the most important that must be added is a lot of empty space named “for future projects” or “to be filled in later”

Sorry, I’m off on a tangent again

YES!!!!!

That is an extremely brilliant idea. I mean, Masha will be quite quiet next year (nothing much activity planned except Ryomaden), why not put it out. I don’t think it has been done before. Just looking at the merchandise he has & after 20 years he must have quite a collection.

I want to see his photographs. For eg, he must taken quite a few in Rome (where fujitv captured him taking a picture of Oda Yuji and vice-versa).

Then Amuse is better to set up an exhitbition hall in Amuse headoffice permanently to held the exhibition of Masha’s stuff. There should be more and more to add in. If entrance fee is charged, I am sure Amuse could earn a million from the exhitbition

What if Nagasaki set up a Museum of FUKUYAMA MASAHARU ?!

The Inasayama concerts brought in millions for Nagasaki. The Museum of FUKUYAMA MASAHARU would definitely have the same impact!!!

Hey that’s such a brilliant idea, and is definitely workable!

Mayday had such an exhibition before in Taiwan. It was a legendary exibition and new fans came in after that probably never get to see those items again

They may have 5 people, but Oyaji has 20 years

I think in terms of quantity, there should be more than enough things to display.

Well now maybe we should write a proposal to Amuse lol

Oh I want a life-size poster of him please

Yeah, i want the guitar picks too!!

I can spend whole day in the exhibition. Maybe amuse will charge by the hourly rate instead

Well, the 2009 Tour ended here. On 05 Oct 2009, Masha put down his concert activities and began his first day of taiga filming. This year long project lasted until 11 Oct 2010 for him, and he left almost immediately for Brazil and Madagascar to film the NHK Documentary “Hot Spots: Saigo no Rakuen” (Hot Spots: The Last Paradise, aka Life Force) thereafter. Upon return to Japan in Nov, Masha started rehearsal for his year-end concerts, returning to the stage after 14 months.
