  • 04 Mar 2011 / Aloha! I was so excited to submit my comments on 06 Feb 2011 to the Guest Book on mashaheart.net, but have been sad :-( not to see it posted and shared on your Web site. Because of reading so many mashaheart.net postings, my heart was very full of happiness to learn so much about Fukuyama-san and then share this happiness and thinking with the many admirable long-time and new fans. How is it decided which comments are posted on mashaheart.net? Truly your Web site is so very excellent bringing many together to enjoy your wonderful work. Mahalo (domo arigatou) for responding!

      Hi Luana, Aloha!

I’m so sorry for the late reply! I’ve been tied down for the past 2 months and was unable to update the site as often as I should. Omachidoosama!! m(_ _)m
All comments are not shown immediately only for purposes of avoiding spam. As a result, your comments have been sitting in the pending folder until now. Please accept my apologies. (I came back to find over 9,000 comments pending approval, most of which was spam *dead* )

Yes, I agree with you. Fukuyama Masaharu is truly a versatile and talented artist, and I’m glad that many more people can now get to know about him through Ryomaden! He’s also a very fun (and playful) person! ^0^ There is a growing community of English-speaking Fukuyama fans on Facebook, and a dedicated forum for international fans @ MashaPlus Forums (http://mashaplus.net/masha/) where you’ll find real-time commentary on his radio shows and TV appearances, and the latest news and discussions among fans. Some of our members followed him through his 24hrs Radio Special Marathon and took turns to report on the show throughout the 24hrs. I’m afraid none of us could stay up for the entire 24hours as he had done though. He was a truly amazing.

Come join us if you haven’t already done so and share your views on this man!

  • 06 Feb 2011 / Aloha from Hawaii! Thank you very much for such great time and energy you and others dedicate to translate so that many of us who do not understand, read, or speak Japanese may benefit. So very kind of you. Domo arigatou! Many of us in Hawaii first became acquainted with Fukuyama-san, the actor, because of RYOMADEN. Then we watched the 61st KOHAKU and were surprised to discover Fukuyama-san, the singer! (Both shows televised in Hawaii; Ryomaden with English translation.) Now I have been learning more of him because of everyone’s wonderful online work of all varieties and great volumes. Domo arigatou again! I very much enjoyed Fukuyama-san’s Ryoma acting skills! I very much enjoy his voice and song-writing skills of meaningful lyrics and song variation! I very much appreciate learning what kind of person he is and, like so many of you, I very much agree Fukuyama-san is attractive in many ways! I very much appreciate his nice, playful, charismatic personality and kind consideration and appreciation of others! Fukuyama-san has taken a great responsibility for himself wanting to do his best to make everyone feel happiness, ne? He is watched and followed by many. Many want to be like him. Really his influence is great. When I watch Fukuyama-san’s performances when he is of different ages in his life, I feel most happy for him as now I realize more his maturing into these recent years. Truly I feel that his study and much thinking of life and his purpose, because of his Ryoma-san role, have benefit him greatly. I very much see that he is most best and truly reaches the hearts of others as he is true to his inner goodness with his ways of properness, politeness, and respectfulness! Really these are worthy and important traditional Japanese values to uphold! Really it is not necessary, not useful, and of no meaning to be sensual in front of his audience by grabbing private body part or doing such rotating pelvis! Some international stars do because it is their wanting to be improper, impolite, and disrespectful for shocking the audience. Please do not uphold and imitate their desires, Fukuyama-san! No, please! Really Fukuyama-san is already very much appealing with his beautiful tones of his singing and speaking voice, cute dimple smile, warm brown eyes, sincerity of his songs, wavy long hair, handsome facial expressions, kind generosity, strong intelligence, relaxing conversations, many developed talents, and attractive maturity. Truly I very much feel he is this kind of talented, thoughtful, considerate inner person that makes him very much desired of many. Truly I very much feel his heart and sincerity as he does his best in Japanese ways to bring happiness to others with no unnecessary sensual acts. Please support our happiness and inner goodness by being true to yourself in these worthy Japanese ways, Fukuyama-san! Gambatte kudasai! Truly we wish there would be more translated TV showings in Hawaii of Fukuyama-san! Mahalo nui loa! And hauoli la hanau on your 42nd year!

  • Izumisano, thanks for the reply! I saw your message on my blog. (But I haven’t seen your email though)
I’ve been doing some homework since my post here. :) Yeah, the problem is I don’t have any close friend in Japan. So I think this time I’ll need to find an agent to buy a ticket for me. I am planning to see May 29th’s concert. Have my finger crossed, hopefully everything works out well. Thanks again!

  • Hello all,
Thanks for all your effort on the web site. I want to go to Masha’s concert next year. Do you know how can I order the tickets?
    Thank you!

    • Izumisano

      Hi Sherry!

Thanks for your query! The easiest way to get tickets is to join his Fan Club BROS. FC members have a priority ticket lottery draw, months before each concert. Not every member will win but there is a good chance for the Tour concerts. In fact, it is the best chance of getting tickets at the normal price. Otherwise, some people will look for tickets resold at the auctions or other ticket sites. Resale tickets are officially forbidden by the fanclub and resale prices can be anything from 2(x) to 10(x) of the normal ticket prices.

The lottery draw for the first part (24 Feb ~ 4 May) of 2011 Tour is only open to FC members who have joined before Oct 24, 2010. But if you join the FC now, you are still eligible to enter the draw for 2nd part (May 14 to July 3).

The actual procedure (FC & tickets) takes a bit of explaining. As far as I know, BROS fanclub (still) requires an address in Japan. But overseas fans can join through the help of friends or agents in Japan. I will email the details to you at the address you gave for your comment. If you would like me to use another email, please let me know. ^^

Thank you Izumisano for your answer. My daughter is living in Japan, I asked her as my birthday present (it was on Oct 11th) if she could get the tickets, but she wasn’t happy with my request because she doesn’t like him at all (maybe because he is my age ;-) ), maybe next time, for his 25th anniversary tour.
I don’t know either why he is unknown overseas, he easily could do concerts in the US like others Japanese artist do. I’m guessing is a personal matter, maybe he doesn’t speak English, maybe he doesn’t want to be away from his family, maybe he doesn’t like foreigners, but anyway, we still are able to enjoy his music.
Thanks again for everything. I’ll be waiting to hear about your concert experience, hope you’ll enjoy every second of it.

Hello! To all of you, thank you for your time and effort in doing this site for all Fukuyama-san’s fans.
Many years ago I started to study Japanese with my son (by then in junior high) and I was introduced to J-dramas and from them, to Japanese music. To my surprise, I found out that the same artist I liked in my 20s has became a great musician. Unfortunately, even when I go to Japan twice of three times every year, I can’t get tickets for his concerts because I’m not Japanese, I have been told that most of them are for the fan club members. Anyway, I still can enjoy beautiful music hoping to learn a little more Japanese with his songs.
Thanks again, congratulations and keep the good work

    • Izumisano

Hi Vale! Thank you for your comments!
I was introduced to Fukuyama via his dramas many years ago but it was his music that made me a fan. I had no idea he was a musician, and such an adept one. But why, why is this great talent of his virtually unknown overseas? I only wish I had known earlier, and didn’t miss out on those years of good music. BTW, his year-end concert is coming up! If you have friends in Japan, you could join his fanclub through their address, or otherwise find a deputy service to help you. It does make getting the tickets easier (though his fan numbers have increased so drastically now, many an FC member have been unable to secure a ticket this time. I’m just really really happy to be able to get one myself.) FYI, public sale of his concert tickets commence on Oct 16 (next sat), so if your friends could help you or if you happen to be in Japan, there is still a chance! As one fan from Colorado US once said, his concerts are a musical experience not to be missed and he reserves his best performances in front of a live audience.

  • I do not know how to thank you.
I gladly dedicate myself to the page of Masha on facebook.
The difficulty is not to have fresh news, because I do not know Japanese.
I’m just studying Japanese, by myself, so to me you are angels! :-)))
The credit is yours if I can understand the meaning of songs by Masha and appreciated for the content in addition to the beautiful sounds!
I love this artist so talented and for me it was a real pleasant surprise.
I hope that the whole world knows him.
The language barrier is strong, we are too westernized and not inclined to oriental culture … but art can make a difference and break the mold.
Masaharu is a great artist and deserves a worldwide success.

    Hello, I’m an Italian fan.
I would like to ask you permission to enter notes with interviews or anything else that
you have translated into English …in my facebook page that I dedicated to Masha.
I will write that it is your job.
I have already added this site as link official of Masha’s World .

    • Izumisano

      Hi Ginny!

Sure, no problem! Please, by all means, let more people know about him!
Could you also add the link to the actual article here, so people can look it up if they like. Thanks!

Thanks for the translation. Great job. If not from this website, I don’t
think I’ll ever really know a little bit of this great artist. His unpretentious nature is the thing that made him GREAT. BRAVO!!!!

  • May I ask do you have the lyrics of Hard Luck Lover? Thanks a lot in advance!

    • Izumisano

      HI Saphine!
I can’t seem to find them either. Give me some time and I’ll try to work them out!

  • I am a fan of his but I know zero about him. Thanks to the wonderfully translated articles and interviews, I am beginning to see Fukuyama Masaharu the man himself. Please do continue with your great effort that has helped not just those who doesn’t know Japanese but Chinese as well to know the man.

    • Izumisano

Thanks! It’s encouragement like this that keeps us going! We’re compiling a report on his latest tour which has just ended on last Sunday. And also tons of interviews to translate…. XD

  • Thanks a lot for all your sharing and translation.

I’m obsessed with the song ただ僕がかわった (live version) you recommended b4. It’s so great!! I’m wondering whether you could be so kind to send me its MP3 version. Many thanks in advance!

    • Izumisano

Thanks for your feedback, Saphine. I love the song too!
But I hope you understand, Mashaheart is a pure translation site so we will not be dealing with any other resources here. I’m sorry~~
